Salamun Alaykum,

25th Dhulqa’ada: Dahwul Ardh / Spreading of the Earth:

Alluding to the spread of the earth, the Noble Qur’an states,“…and after that He (Allah) spread out the earth.” (Sura An-Naazi-at 79:30).

On this day Allah spread out all the land on the earth from the point under the Ka’aba for the advantage of human beings. In another tradition it is reported that the first Rahmah - Divine Blessing-descended on this very day. It is also the day when Prophet Adam was sent to Earth. This day is also the birthday of two great Prophets, Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), and Prophet Isa bin Maryam (Jesus), peace be upon them.

Dahwul Ardh - 5 Recommended A’maal for the day
To reflect on our role as Stewards / Trustees of Earth; our home.
To perform mustahab ghusl for this day.
To observe fast (sawm).
To recite a two rak’ah prayer to be recited in the morning past sunrise (at forenoon):
In both the rak’ahs recite Surah al-Fatiha once, and then Surah al-Shams 5 times.
After Salam recite:

Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa billaahil ‘Aliyyil ‘Adheem
Ya Muqeelal ‘atharaat aqilni ‘athrati, yaa Mujeebadda’awaat ajib da’wati; yaa Saami’al aswaat isma’ sawti; warhamni watajaawaz ‘an sayyi’aati wa maa ‘indi; yaa dhal jalaali wal ikraam.

“There is no power or strength save with Allah, the Most High, the Greatest.O He who tolerates lapses, bear with my false steps, O He who responds to supplications, answer to my prayers. O He who pays attention to (all) voices, hear my cry, and have mercy on me, overlook my wrongdoings and opposition, O Owner of might and majesty.”
