Recommended A’mals for Eid ul Ghadeer

18th Dhulhijja 1441 A.H. / Sunday 9th August,2020

My dear Muminin,

Salamun alaykum,

Yawmul Jumah Mubarakah and Heartiest Felicitations on the Blessed and Auspicious Occasion of Eid ul Ghadeer

Traditions narrate that Eid ul Ghadeer is the greatest Eid of Allah and the best Eid of the Ummah. In terms of the event, its significance and spiritual benefits it is certainly an incomparable Eid.

To familiarise with its status read https://www.al-islam.org/forty-ahadith-ghadir-mahmud-sharifi

Herebelow I would like to share with you 10 deeds of a’mal recommended for Eid ul Ghadeer:

(1) Greetings when we meet: At the time of meeting with muminin the brothers-in-faith congratulate each other in the following words: Alhamdulillaahil ladhi ja’alana minal mutamassikina bi wilaayati amiril m’uminina wal aimmati ‘alayhimus salaam.

(All praise is due to Allah for having enabled us to be from those who hold to the leadership of Amirul Muminin and all the Imams a.s.)During these unusual times when we are restricted for physical meetings why not consider extending greetings of celebration for Eid ul Ghadeer through use of alternate medium such as telephone calls, emails, text messages and other social platforms.

(2) Perform Sunnah ghusl and apply perfume.

(3) Observe fast. “Fasting on the day of Ghadeer is equivalent to fasting the time span of the (existence of the) entire world.” Imam J’afar As Sadiq a.s. This hadith conveys message that the reward for a fast on Eid ul Ghadeer would be equivalent to reward for a person who if they were to live a life of the entire existence of the world and were to fast this period.

(4) Arrange for iftar to the persons fasting. Amirul Muminin Imam Ali bin Abi Talib a.s. said that whoever provides iftar to a person who has observed fast on this day, has treated to Iftar 10 fa’aam. When asked who they (fa’aam) were, Imam Ali explained that fa’aam consisted of 100 000 prophets, the truthful and martyrs.

(5) Pray 2 rakaat salah: First rakaat:  After Sura Al-Fatiha recite Suratul Qadr once and in Second rakaat After Sura Al-Fatiha recite Suratul Ikhlas once. After salat go into sajdah and recite SHUKRAN LILLAH 100 times.

Recite the dua: “Allahumma inni as-aluka bi anna lakal hamda wahdaka laa sharika  laka wa annaka waahidun ahadun samadun …….”(Reference Mafatihul Jinan Page   276) . Go into sajdah and recite 100 times each : ALHAMDU LILLAH and SHUKRAN LILLAH.

It is reported that one who performs this salat will be rewarded as though he was present near the Noble Prophet s.a.w.w. on the day of Ghadeer and gave allegiance.

(6) Pray  2 Raka't Salaat just before noon time. In every Raka't, after the recitation of Surah Al Fatiha, recite:  10 times each  Sura Al Ikhlas, Aayat ul Kursi and Sura Al Qadr.
The reward for this prayer is equal to that of performing 100 000 obligatory and optional haj and ones wishes of the world and the hereafter will be fulfilled with ease and will be granted good health.

(7) Recite Dua Nudbah.

(8) Recite the dua : “Allahumma inni as-aluka bihaqqi Muhammadin nabiyyika wa ‘Aliyin waliyika wash sha’ani wal qadril ladhi…..” (Reference Mafatihul Jinan Page  279)

(9) Recite  Ziarats of Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib (i)Special Ghadir Ziyarat (ii) Ziarat Ameenallah & (iii) Ziarat Mutlaqah. Refer to Mafatihul Jinan

(10) To recite 100 times: Alhamdulillahil ladhi ja’ala kamaala dinihi wa tamaama n’imatihi, bi wilayati Amiril mu’minina Aliyibni Abi Talib ‘alayhis salaam
