Benefits of performing Ziyara:

Numerous ahadith have described abundant benefits including:

• A powerful sentimental bond and communication established like one who visits the Masum whilst they were alive.
• Attain the status of muhajir; one who had left his family to migrate with the Prophet.
• Benefit from intercession on the day of judgement.
• Cause of purification from sins.
• Will be visited by the Prophet on the day of judgement.

Benefits of performing Ziyara Aba Abdillah Imam Husayn a.s.:

• Reward for performing the most beloved deed in sight of Allah SWT.
• Allah will look after their needs.
• Recompensed for the money spent. For every dirham:10 000 Dirhams
• They are prayed for by the Noble Messenger of Allah,Imam Ali,Sayyida Fatima and the Imam a.s.
• Time spent in ziyara is not considered part of life span. Prolongs life.
• Forgiveness of 50 years sins.
• Honoured by Angels who have been dedicated by Allah SWT to the grave of Imam Husayn a.s. These angels accompany the zaair until they arrive their safe haven; visit them every morning and evening when they fall ill. And when they die the angels will attend their funeral and seek forgiveness for them till the day of Qiyama.

Arranging for one to proceed on Ziyara of Aba Abdillah a.s.:

Responding to query on reward for one who arranges for other to go on Ziyarat of Aba Abdillah a.s.,the sixth Imam J'afar As Sadiq a.s. said,"....Allah will recompense them for every dirham they have spent (in arranging for others) with rewards as great as the mountains of Uhud and will sustain them with multiple amounts. Furthermore the affliction which had been destined for them (sponsors) will be pushed away and their wealth will be protected."

Compilations of the Ziyarat texts:

Apart from the 1st Imam and the 3rd Imam the rest of the 14 masumin have a single reading of ziyarat.
Amiral Muminin has 7 different versions of ziyarat out of which the well known is Ziyara Aminallah.
"If a Shia recites this salutation (Ziyara Aminallah) at the grave of Amiral Muminin or any other Imam then Allah records them in a bright record bearing the seal of Prophet Muhammad SAWW; which is then preserved till it will be handed to the Qaaim of Aali Muhammad who will then welcome the person with good tidings, greetings and honour." 5th Imam Al Baqir a.s.

The 6th Version (Ziyara Shisham) is to be recited on day of Ashura preceding Ziyarat Ashura as outlined by the 6th Imam.
In addition to above there are specific salutations on Amiral Muminin to be recited on occasion of Ghadeer, Meeladun Nabi and B'ithat.

As for the 3rd Imam, there are numerous narrations from Imams emphasizing to perform his ziyara.
There are 7 texts for salutations on Aba Abdillah Imam Husayn a.s. Six of these are only to the 3rd Imam whereas the 7th salutation includes greetings upon his son Ali bin Husayn and the Martyrs of Karbala. This is referred to as Ziyarat al Warith.
In addition to above there are specific salutations to be recited on 1st and middle of Rajab and Sh'aban, Laylatul Qadr,Eid ul Fitr, Arafa day, Eid ul Adhha, Ashura and Arbain.
Interestingly the Arbain is not marked for any other Masum.

The most powerful and potent for awakening the self, stirring the emotions, granting response to one's desires and enacting a change in one's life is Ziyarat Ashura.

Humble request to read: The Sacred Effusion. This book, which has been ably compiled by the venerated Sheikh Muhammad Khalfan, is a masterpiece of reflections on the Ziyara Ashura. Two volumes have been published so far.
