On 20th June 2011 the Year 5's from St Johns CoE School, Gosport were very fortunate to be visited by Sheikh Fazle Abbas Datoo from the Al Mahdi Centre in Fareham, accompanied by Sister Zainab Rahim, a youth from the community. They worked with two groups for an hour each and shared information about their faith, the Islamic community and lifestyle. The children had lots of questions for them and had a fascinating morning.

While the Qur'an was read in Arabic, a student sang the translation in English so that we knew what was being said, he did really well.

The children asked lots of questions about where Allah is, what happened after death, the fasting period of Ramadan and the prayer rituals.

A Lovely Thank You Letter from Sheikh Fazle Abbas Datoo as Published in the School Newsletter

Greetings

Pray that you are doing well.

I would like to thank you for kindly facilitating my visit to the school on 21st June, and providing me with this opportunity to speak on Islam – Submission and Practice with the young members of your school. The warm welcome accorded by the students and your colleagues is greatly appreciated.

I truly enjoyed every moment of the two sessions working withYear 5 students who wereattentive and pleasant in participating in the interactive sessions.

You have a lovely group of well mannered and respectful children in the class. This is a result of the dedicated training you and your team provide to the children in the school.

Such events are truly motivational for us and we see that it is through sharing the knowledge of our faith we can help bring about better understanding in the community. My community supports such initiatives.
