Salamun alaykum,
Abundance fulfilled:
Today we are celebrating the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of
Sayyida Nisaa il ‘Aalameen - Mistress of the women of the worlds. It was on
20 th Jamadi al Thaani in the 5 th year of Bi’thah, that the joy and happiness of
Kawthar - abundance- was attained in Makka. She who was born on Friday
20 th Jamaadi al Thaani 615 C.E. in the 5 th year of Bi’thah and 8 years before
Hijra. The birth of Sayyida Fatima Zahra a.s, who was the only daughter of
the Noble Prophet, marked the fulfilment of Kawthar-the abundance-
presented to the Noble Prophet as narrated in Sura Al Kawthar.
Invaluable Lessons:
Though Sayyida Fatima Zahra a.s lived a short life on this mortal world, her
presence provided innumerable messages. This pure, pious and struggling
lady has provided abundant lessons which would enable mankind to reach
the peak of human values and bringing them closer to Allah SWT.
Unfortunately, many people either give little attention or ignore the
supreme, unmatched qualities of Sayyida Fatima Zahra a.s.
What is widely remembered is the tragic aspects which unfolded in the life of
this illustrious lady; especially the brutal events after the sad demise of her
father, the Noble Messenger of Allah.
Knock on the door:
One lofty characteristic we find in the life of this noble lady is the spirit of
altruism and generosity. This is Divinely announced in the Noble Quran:
“And they feed for the love of Allah, the destitute, the orphan and the
captive. Saying: we feed you for the sake of Allah alone; no reward do we
desire from you, nor thanks. (Sura al-Dahr:76: 8-9)
On three occasions, at the time of breaking the fast, Sayyida Fatima a.s.
together with her family would hand over the little food they had prepared
for iftar-breaking fast- to the Destitute, Orphan and Captive who came
knocking on the door asking for assistance.
No doubt such an outstanding deed, which has been announced by Divine
revelation, definitely does deserve narrating, honouring and celebrating in
our assemblies. However, are we able to relate these lessons of life from the
Noble lady to ourselves? Does one strive to act on these lessons? How do we
bring them to action in our lives?
Reflect: What do you do?
What do we do with our lives? How do we pass our time? How often do you
recite the Noble Quran? How much time do you grab to maintain spiritual
upliftment in your life?
How much time do you invest in family, friends and others; especially those
whom you do not know?
Where do you spend most of your money? Does it all go towards the latest
fashion designer clothes, electronic gadgets, house renovations, exotic
holidays and many other extravagant personal expenses?
How do we consciously strive to have Sayyida Fatima a.s. as a role model in
leading our lives?
The responses to these questions are indicators to gauge how do we role
model Sayyida Fatima Zahra a.s. and the Ahlul Bayt a.s. in our daily lives.
Certainly, as has been exemplified in the life of Sayyida Fatima Zahra a.s.,
the amount of time and money we invest in others, not just on ourselves,
are all ways of actively bringing to life our love of the Ahlul Bayt.
Role Model:
Our living Imam al Mahdi A.F. has stated that in the daughter of the Prophet
he has uswah; an exemplar. Likewise, are we striving to have this exalted
lady as a role model in our living?
Bring to life love of Sayyida Fatima Zahra a.s.:
The increasing Islamophobia, the current challenges to remaining devoted to
our faith and the global events of tyranny and injustice we are witnessing
calls upon us to reflect on what would Sayyida Fatima Zahra a.s. and the
Ahlul Bayt a.s. do in such situations.
It is essential that in our ever-busy lifestyles we do not let our
indifference to the needy, suffering and oppressed people settle in our way
of living. If it does so, then unfortunately we no longer are able to relate
these messages and the lessons from noble life of Sayyida Fatima a.s to
ourselves.
May we earn the pleasure of Sayyida Fatima al Zahra a.s. and the Ahlul
Bayt.
Heartiest Felicitations on the Auspicious Occasion of birth of Sayyida Fatima
al Zahra a.s.
Khushali Mubarak.
Wa ma tawfiqi illa billah.
With salaams and duas,
