6th December 2019 / 9th Rabi ul Thani, 1441 A.H. - Topic: Birth Anniversary of the 11th Imam

Majlis Summary

Heartiest Felicitations on the Happy and Auspicious Occasion of the Birth Anniversary of our 11th Imam Hasan Al Askari (A.S.)

“…Repel evil with what is best” Sura al Fussilat Haa Mim 41:33

Imam Hasan Al Askari was born on 10th Rabi ul Akhar 232 A.H. in Medina. He is the son of our tenth holy Imam Ali An-Naqi a.s. and Bibi Susan.
Imam Hassan Al Askari lived in the care of his father. At the age of 4, he accompanied his father and family to Samarra under compulsion by the Abbasi ruler Mutawakkil. Extreme repression was carried out against the Shias

He takes charge of leading the Ummah for in 254 A.H. 6 years; being the shortest period of Imamat.

Glance at aspects of his life to gain lesson:

  1. Affection: The prison guard is touched by action of Imam giving him all the fruits for his children, such that later when he is punished severely, he refuses to denounce the Imam.
What is it that embedded love for the Imam in the heart of the brutal guard?
The Imam despite the hardship caused by the guard reached out with love and affection. This had an impact.
Let us do deeds to our neighbors and the wider society with affection so that we touch their hearts such that when under Islamophobic propaganda, it may cause them to choose not to cause harm and to provide support.
  2. Ibadah: The harshest prison wardens would be affected by the Imam discharging ibadah despite every torture discomfort set upon him.

What transformed the prison guards?
The role model set by the Imam through his devotion, ibada and demeanor. He was such an impact that he converted evil doers into abidin. (worshippers).
Our condition is that we are not under such difficult situation like the Imam.

Do we perform ibadah, lead our lives seeking taqwa such that it leads us to be role model for the family to be impacted by us? This will impress upon them towards living their lives with Taqwa. Do we confidently do ibadah with such devotion that it has an impact on the others around us that they become impressed with us as Muslims? Note here ibadah is not to be restricted in the sense of daily rituals eg salah only. Rather our daily living, work ethics, hijab (men and women) interaction, daily living etc.

Dua: May we be granted tawfiq to promote affection and be role models such that we have an impact on the family and community.

Wa ma tawfiqi illa billah
