New Madrasah Academic Year 2019/20

Dear Parents,
Salamun alaykum,

أَعظَمَ اللهُ أُجُورَنا و أُجُورَكُم بِمُصابِنا بِالحُسَين ع

May Allah make our and your reward great for our mourning for Imam al-Husayn (as)

Muharram Children Majlis:

Al Mahdi Madrasah children actively participated in the special majlis program held on September 1st,7th and 10th, 2019. The presentations of Azadari by the children ranged from craft work, quiz, speeches, poems, marthiya, and matam activity. Among the highlights of Azadari was the Ashura evening recitations by the children followed by the walk of grief (Juloos). These events provided a valuable platform for the young ones to engage in Azadari.

Commendation to all for your attendance and encouraging our children to participate in this noble deed of azadari. May Allah SWT reward us all greatly for the mourning on Aba Abdillah a.s.

Youth Point Ashra Muharram 1441:

The various talks delivered by children each night were of high standard and greatly appreciated by all. You will agree that standing to speak in front of the public is a daunting task. MashAllah our children took on the challenge to take part in the Youth point. Commendation to all participants. Thank you for encouraging your child to take part in the Youth Point.  By encouraging your child to participate you have inspired them to promote and serve in keeping alive the tragic event of Karbala. In addition you are assisting in development of their presentation skills. May Allah SWT reward you with ajre adhim and grant felicitations to your children.

Tarbiyah Curriculum:

Bihamdillah during the Madrasah Academic year 2018 /19 lessons in the odd numbered modules (1,3,5, and 7) were completed. In the Academic Year 2019/20 we will now be learning the Even numbered modules to complete the two-year Tarbiyah Curriculum journey. The younger children in Year R and Year 1 will learn selected lessons from all the modules in Band A.

Prepare your child for Madrasah-Dressing:

An aspect of preparation for Madrasah is arranging appropriate Madrasah dressing for your child. The dressing befitting for Madrasah is essential for developing the mind set of the child towards the Madrasah programme.

We would like to once again draw your attention to the dressing for Madrasah and the Attendance policy. To view them visit the following link: http://www.almahdi.org.uk/madrasah/wessex-madressah/governance-arrangements

Request you to kindly familiarise with them.

Prepare your child for Madrasah-Attendance:

Every child is expected to attend Madrasah regularly and on time. Madrasah meets only once a week and during the Academic year, we expect to have not more than 29 learning days. Therefore a single absence can definitely affect your child’s progress in Deeni Talim. You will agree that absenteeism does affect not only the Madrasah programme, but performance of the absent child. You are requested to take this into consideration.

Report Absenteeism:

If your child is unable to attend Madrasah then could you kindly notify the Madrasah on the day with reason for absence either by an email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or SMS text to 0786 475 8000.  Parents who fail to notify the Madrasah on the absence of their children will receive a notification message.

Children leaving early:

If for any reason you may need to take your child/children home early from Madrasah, you MUST please inform, at earliest on the Madrasah day the Admin team, either by an email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or SMS text to 0786 475 8000.

When you come to collect them, please do not go directly to your child’s class. You are required to meet the Admin team who will then call the child from the classroom. This is important for safeguarding and to avoid causing any disturbance in the class.

 Outstanding attendance:

Students who will have attained 90% or more attendance during the Academic year will be recognised at end of year assembly.

Prepare your child for Madrasah- Punctuality:

Every child is expected to attend Madrasah on time. The Madrasah day commences at 9:55 a.m. with Dua assembly. This session of dua provides the barakah and motivation to the child for the day at Madrasah. Kindly arrange for your child to arrive on time to take part in the assembly. Children who arrive late to the Dua assembly will be recorded and needful action will be considered in due course.

Prepare your child for Madrasah-Resources:

The Tarbiyah Manual, writing materials or books are part of the resources to be utilised by the child during the lesson. Failing to bring any of these resources does affect the participation of the student in class. Kindly ensure that your child attends Madrasah with the Qur’an learning book and Qur’an reading record, the Tarbiyah manual, writing material (Pen/Pencil, Paper) and a bag for the books. In order to have an effective learning day it is essential that children have all these required items with them during Madrasah.

Mobile Phones:

Whilst we appreciate the need for some children to carry mobile phones to Madrasah it is essential that the phones are not utilised during the Madrasah session. If necessary pupils may bring their mobile phone into Madrasah under the condition that the phone is switched off and kept away from use during Madrasah. Should a pupil be found using a mobile phone during Madrasah, without authorization, the item will be confiscated, and the Parent will need to meet Admin team for collection.

Access to the Madrasah:

The gates at the Al Mahdi Centre will be closed at 10:50 a.m. They will be re-opened at 1:00pm. Persons arriving after 10:50 a.m. will be required to press the buzzer on the side wall and request for entry to the Madrasah.

This move is being taken to restrict access of visitors to the Centre whilst the Madrasah is in session. This is essential towards safeguarding the welfare of all children and volunteers at the Madrasah; which is part of duty of care by the Wessex Jamaat.

Collection of children at end of Madrasah:

It has been noted that some children are collected late at the end of Madrasah. This means that some volunteers have to remain to supervise the children. This is causing inconvenience to volunteers who need to attend to their personal schedules for the day after Madrasah. Please ensure that children are collected on time at the end of Madrasah.

We seek your support to uphold these practices for the successful operation of our Madrasah.

Safeguarding and reporting:

The Madrasah recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people whilst on Madrasah premises. Safeguarding is an essential part of our duty of care when working with children and vulnerable persons.

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Nazzninbai Hooda who has recently completed Train the Trainer Safeguarding Programme to our Madrasah Safeguarding team. We look forward to benefitting from her services in Safeguarding for the Madrasah.

For any concerns on safeguarding kindly contact Nazzninbai Hooda, Br Omidullah Arifi, undersigned or Br Taki Jaffer. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ,who is the Wessex Jamaat Designated Safeguarding Officer.

Meeting with Director of Madrasah:

As always, I continue to welcome parents to contact me (email /phone) or meet me. To arrange a meeting on a Madrasah day I would be grateful if you could kindly email me earlier. This will enable me to plan my diary and also save you waiting time on the day.

Together with your support and Divine tawfiqat we look forward to another Academic year of imparting Deeni T’alim to our children, InshAllah.

Request you to kindly pray for barakah and success in the Tarbiyah for our children.

Meanwhile, as has been the case, feel free to contact me if there is any clarification you may need.
