Dua and Brunch Session for the Victims of Cyclone Idai in Africa

Dua and Brunch Session for the Victims of Cyclone Idai in Africa

On the first Friday of Sha’ban, a warm and pleasant spring day - 12th April 2019, Al Mahdi Centre opened earlier than usual. This was to welcome the ladies of Wessex Jamaat for a Dua and Brunch session to raise funds for the victims of Cyclone Idai in Africa.

The event started with reaffirming our allegiance to Imam Mahdi (atfs) by recitation of Dua Ahad led by Sister Ruqayya Datoo Nanjiani, followed by the lamentation of Dua Nudbah led by Sister Fatima Bandali. An enlightening talk on the nourishment of the soul was shared by Sister Fatema Ramani; which was apt as we prepare for the blessed Shahru Ramadhan. The event concluded with a Qasida in praise of Imam Mahdi (atfs) recited by Sister Rehana Gangji and the special Ziyarah of Imam Mahdi (atfs) for Fridays by Sister Sayyeda Premji.

Alongside the adult programme, the younger ones gathered in a side room to enjoy a story time and arts & crafts session with the guidance of Sister Sajida Jaffer.

Everyone then moved on to explore the yummies that were spread across the table. This ranged from cakes, doughnuts, and the more traditional channa bateta, dhokra and patra. This was scrumptiously enjoyed by all.

The event, although attended by a few raised a mighty £125 from the brunch and kids craft session; and will form part of a grander total from other fundraising activities to assist the victims of Cyclone Idai.
