Salamun alaykum,

Hijra: Impactful Event:

The month of Rabi ul Awwal, like the months of Shahru Ramadhan and Muharram / Safar, too has a significant influence upon the timeline of humanity and Muslims. An outstanding event that occurred in this month is the hijra. It is emigration- of Rasulallah; the Messenger of Allah. This had a major influence on the Muslim Ummah

What is the event?

It was in 622 CE, 13th year since commencement of B’ithat-prophetic mission- that the pagans and polytheists community of Makka had set up a plan to murder the Prophet. The Quraysh pagans of Makka thought that, in killing the Prophet, they could be free from the influence of the teachings of the Prophet. Thus, they decided to select a person from each tribe to kill the Prophet all together. This alliance was to prevent the rise of Banu Hashim, family of Prophet, to rise in vengeance for his blood.
Allah SWT informs the Noble Prophet about this wicked plan, instructing him to leave Makka and proceed towards Yathrib; later renamed Madina. On receiving the Divine command, the Noble Messenger made arrangements to hand over to Amiral Mumineen Imam Ali a.s. all the items that the Makkan residents had placed in his custody as a trust and safe keeping. These were to be returned to their owners.
The Noble Prophet then ordered Imam Ali a.s. to sleep in his bed on the night of his departure so that the unbelievers might not think that the Prophet had left but should remain under the impression that he was in the house. Imam Ali a.s. readily agreed to do so.

Even the angels admire:

As soon as Imam Ali a.s. slept in that bed instead of the Prophet, Allah SWT questions the two dear angels Jibrail and Mikaeel which of them was ready to be devoted /give themselves in service to the other. Then Almighty God told them to watch then how Imam Ali a.s. was willing to devote his soul for Rasulallah.
It is stated that the sleep that night for Amiral Mumineen, was the most peaceful one in his lifetime. Despite the over looming danger to him, what made Imam Ali a.s. contentedly enjoy the sleep that night?
Wasn’t it his intense love for Rasulullah, coupled with his devotion, faith and commitment to Rasulallah that Amiral Mumineen willingly places himself in service of Rasulallah?

Reflect:

As Muslims and Shias of Amiral Mumineen how devoted in love for Rasulallah and obedient in his service are we?
Do we strive to support and serve each other like the service of Amiral Mumineen to his brother Rasulallah?
Today we as a minority amongst people of other faiths and no faiths, how willingly does one submit to adhere to the teachings of the Thaqalayn – Quran and Ahlul Bayt?
In submission to life as Muslims do we feel cheerful and contented like Amiral Mumineen sleeping on the night of hijra?

Heartiest Felicitations Meeladun Nabi Mubarak

Wa ma tawfiqi illa billah.
