Salaamun Alaykum,
The over confident human:
Land is reclaimed from the oceans to build vast expanses of pleasure homes like the magnificent Palm Islands in Dubai, U.A.E. Deep wells are drilled on land and offshore sites to pump out the valuable oil for man’s insatiable demand for energy resource. I the U.K. hydraulic fracking methods are being considered for exploring shale gas.The appetite for unnecessary consumer goods is ever increasing. The race to conquer outer space is at a high. NASA’s Curiosity Rover and China’s Jade Rabbit exploration vehicles are roving on the planet Mars and the moon respectively. Sovereign Nations are dominated by foreign forces to rip the country of its mineral resources. The woman has assigned herself the choice to abort the unborn baby. Morality has been perverted.
Typical questions such as: Is there need for God are put forward as Atheism gains ground.……
The responsibility of man being a steward of Almighty God-Allah SWT- has been abandoned. The human race has developed over confidence that we are the ones in charge. Is that so?
Extremes of weather:
Against this background man finds disruption in the daily life. Torrential downpours have lashed the U.K. since last December. Battering gale winds, high tides and rising river levels have left huge areas of land covered under water. Numerous homes have been flooded, businesses affected and flourishing communities are living in misery.
On the other side of the world, in Indonesia, hard rocks and ash were spewed up 16000ft in the air covering the area with grey ash dust as the Sinabung volcanic mountain roared into life after being dormant for 400 years. Thousands of people have been displaced from their homes, a number of lives lost and farms have been destroyed.
An explanation:
The occurrences of natural events such as Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Volcanic eruptions, Eclipses, Hurricanes, Typhoons and other events on our planet have been explained by man on basis of his knowledge of sciences like geology and meteorology. Armed with advanced knowledge man has developed early warning systems and damage proof construction methods. Man continues to live on the Earth with greater confidence that he is in charge. All the while man chooses to continue to ignore the inner call in one’s self to submit to his Lord- the Creator.
Are we the ones in charge?
Against this background a greater force comes into play. Certainly does not such terrible occurrences make man realize how vulnerable and insignificant the human race is?
It is incidents such as these extremes of weather which remind people that indeed there is a Mighty Power that is Incharge – The Creator, The Master of the Universe. These occurrences are signs of Majesty of Allah SWT.
“We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and in their own souls, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things?” Sura Al Fussilat 41:53
How long will man continue to deny the Great Authority that is Incharge?
It is with great anguish that we follow news of the communities affected by the flooding in U.K. and the volcano disaster in Indonesia.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the distressed families.
During these moments of affliction let us continue doing fervent prayers to Allah SWT to alleviate the suffering of all affected by conflict and disaster and that their pains be removed. By your Mercy the Most Beneficent and Most Merciful.
