Salamun alaykum,

Khushali Mubarak on the auspicious occasion of the birthdate of our beloved second Imam Hassan bin Abitalib a.s. which will be celebrated on 15th Holy Ramadhan. On this blessed day we are pleased to launch Risalatul Jum’a –The Friday message. This bulletin will Inshallah be put out every week on Fridays.

The name Risalatul Jum’a

Risala means "message" in arabic language. It is also an Islamic term that has a broader meaning. In Islamic context Risala means scriptures revealed from God through a messenger (Rasul) to the people. Our noble religion Islam is sometimes referred to as Ar-Risala(the Message ).

Jum’a means “things collected together”. In Arabic the sixth day of the week is known as yawmil-jum’a which literally means the day of congregation. Historically it is the day when the Quraysh used to gather themselves in the building called Darun Nadwa in Makka.

Yawmil jum’a is also the day when muslims congregate at the mosques to perform Salatul Jum’a – the Friday prayer.

‘O you who believe, when the call to prayer is made on ‘ yawmil-jum’a’ hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off all transactions. That is better for you, if you know (62:9)

Our theme of discussion in the night majlis held at Al Mahdi Centre during  this holy month is the khutba delivered by the holy prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w.) on the advent of the holy month of Ramadhan. This sermon is famously known as Khutbatu Sh’abaniya. For an introduction refer to majlis summary 22nd August, 2009.

Herebelow is the sermon given by the holy prophet:
'O People! The month of Allah has come to you with His blessings, mercies and forgiveness. This is the month that is the best of all months to Allah. Its days are the best of days, its nights are the best of nights, its hours are the best of hours

This is a month in which you have been invited by Him to be the guest of Allah. You have been made in it to receive the honors from Allah.Every breath you take (in this month) has the reward of tasbih. Your sleep in it is an act of worship. Your good deeds are accepted and your invocations are answered. Therefore ask your Lord with sincere intentions and pure hearts (free from sin and evil) that Allah may help you keep the fasts, and to recite the Holy Qur'an. Surely the person who in this month does not receive the forgiveness of Allah is most unfortunate.

By your thirst and hunger remember the hunger of the Day of Judgement and its thirst. Give charity to the poor and needy among you. Pay respect to your elders, have sympathy for young ones, be kind to your relatives (kinsmen).Guard your tongues. Lower your glances from what is not permissible for you to see, and refrain from hearing what is not permissible for you to hear. Show compassion to the orphans of the people so compassion may be shown to your orphans……

….to be continued Inshallah.
