Role of a steward:

To take good care, tend well, utilize wisely and rightfully the object placed upon him as a trust. The steward does not in any way overstep his boundary to become the owner of the object placed as trust upon him.

Why was man sent to Earth?

Behold, your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to place a vicegerent on earth." (Sura al-Baqara 2:30)
Thus purpose for creation of man is to be a Steward of Almighty Allah on this earth. As stewards of this planet earth, man is to discharge an important role to tend well this earth which we live on as our home.

Dahwul-Ardh :

The phrase "Dahwul Ardh" literally means "The spread of the earth".
The Holy Qur’an alluding to the spread of the earth says:“…and after that He spread out the earth.” (Sura An-Nazi-at 79:30)

According to a hadith of the Holy Prophet s.a.w.w.; Dahwul Ardh took place on the 25th of Dhulqa'da. On this day Allah spread out all the land on the earth from under the Ka’aba for the advantage of human beings.
Hence the Dahwul Ardh event is an opportunity for men to reflect on their role on the earth.

Other occurrences on 25th Dhulq’ada:

In another tradition it is reported that the first Rahmah; Blessing descended on this very day.
This is also the day when Prophet Adam was sent to Earth.
This day is also the birthday of two great Prophets, Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who is known as the Father of Monotheism as it is from him that the great Prophets came that make up the Jews, Christians and Muslims of today. In addition Prophet Isa bin Maryam ( Jesus) ,was born on this blessed day.

11th Dhulqa’ada: Birth of the Eighth Holy Imam Ali Ar-Ridha a.s.

He was born in Medina in the year 148 A.H. He is the son of our seventh holy Imam Musa Al-Kadhim a.s. and Bibi Khayzran from Nubia ( present Sudan). Her other names are Najma, Ummul Banin, Arwi, Takattum

Unprecedented announcement:

7th Imam Musa Al Kadhim could foresee the hostile Abbasi Rulers would not allow him to leave peacefully and circumstances would take such a turn that the followers would not have easy access to him. So while free in Madina, he assembled prominent dignitaries from the descendants of Imam Ali and proclaimed that his son Ali Ar Ridha would be the rightful Imam to succeed him. To this effect he also wrote a will in which respected elders of Madina signed a witnessed. Such elaborate arrangements were never made by any other Imam.

When does one attain completion of Intellect?

Most obvious answers would be when one has excelled in academic pursuit reaching ijtihad, Doctorate, Professorship, and other such levels of knowledge.

The 8th Imam clarifies that the stage of completion of Intellect is not in the saturation in acquisition of knowledge. This is seen from the below hadith:

“The intellect of a muslim person does not attain perfection till he has attained TEN characteristics:
Benevolence is expected from him, People are secure from his evil, He considers the small benefaction to him by others as plentiful, He considers  great services by him to others as small, He does not get upset by the many requests put to him, He does not get  exhausted in seeking knowledge for the length of his life, He loves poverty in the way of Allah more than the plenty in His disobedience, He loves disgrace in the way of Allah more than the honour on the course of His enemies, Anonymity is more liked by him than fame,
Then the Imam posed and inquired: the tenth one and what is the tenth one?
He continued to say: he does not see a person, but he says: He is more pious than myself.”  Imam Ali Ar Ridha a.s.
