COMING OUT OF GRAVES IN STATE OF NAKEDNESS
Coming out of the graves naked has also been mentioned by Imam Zaynul-’Aabideen (as) in his dua’ known as Dua’-e-Abi Hamza Thumali (ra). At one point in this famous dua’, which is usually recited in the holy month of Ramadhan, the Imam (as) says: “I am crying over that time when I shall come out of my grave naked, humiliated, carrying the burdens of my deeds over my shoulder”.
The question that arises here is: Will all the people on the Day of QIYAMAH be naked? The answer to this question is No! There will be some whose bodies will be covered and they will be covered by the Noor (Light) of some of their virtuous deeds. Who are these people?
Firstly, they are those who do NOT do DHULM ‘Any kind of Injustice’ to anyone in this life.
A person comes to Imam Ja’ffar as-Sadiq (as) and asks, “Yabna Rasoolillah! What is the smallest injustice for which one will also be held accountable in the Hereafter?” Imam (as) asks the person to extend his hand. When he does, Imam (as) holds his hand and asks him if he allows him to press it. The man allows and the Imam (as) presses it little. When the man feels little pain and says ‘Ah!’ because of it, Imam (as) says: “There is hisaab for also this!”. (Falsafatuna)
If minor injustice like this, which we do with each other jokingly in this life, has hisaab, what will happen to us if we inflict serious harm, regardless of whether the harm is physical, mental, psychological or even spiritual? A person comes to the Holy Prophet (saww) and says: “O Prophet of Allah! I desire to be brought on the Day of Judgement in state of Noor, what shall I do?” The Holy Prophet (saww) said, “Do not commit injustice against any one and you will be brought on the Day of Judgement in state of Noor”. (Meezan al-Hikmah)
Secondly, those who help their believing brothers and relieve them from their worldly troubles, they will also have covering on their bodies.
Imam Ja’ffar as-Sadiq (as) has said, “If a person gives clothes to his believing brother during summer or winter, it will become compulsory on Allah To clothe him with heavenly attires, & To ward off the difficulties of the grave & QIYAMAH. When such a person will rise from his grave, the angels will meet him and give him glad tidings of Allah (SWT)’s Mercy”. (Al-Kaafi) He (as) has also said, “A person who relieves the troubles of a believing brother and helps him during his need, Allah (SWT) will keep him safe from the troubles of the Hereafter; and he will rise from his grave contented and happy”. (Aamaali-e- Sadooq)
