QIYAMAH
THE JUDGEMENT DAY

No. 8

The Day of QIYAMAH will not be an easy day. It will be the day of terror. Even the Angels, the Prophets and the Imams (as) were all seriously concerned about it as we discussed in the last FLZ article. However, there will be some people, who will NOT be terrified on that day. Who are these people? They are those who believed in Allah (SWT) and followed the guidance of the Holy Prophet (saww) and the Aimma (as) in the worldly life. The Holy Quran says: “The great terror shall not grieve them and the angels will receive them (saying); this is your day which you were promised”. (21:103)

DEEDS TO EASE FEAR ON QIYAMAH

The best part about Islam is that it does NOT only forewarn us of the events that will unfold on the Day of QIYAMAH but it also tells us how to prepare ourselves for them. What are the things that will ease the fear of QIYAMAH for us? Shaykh ‘Abbas al-Qummi has stated atleast 10 such things, which if we do in this life, we will Inshallah have nothing to fear on the Day of QIYAMAH. To mention a few:

One of the things that has been mentioned in the Quran & Hadeeth is the WILAYAH ‘Love’ of Ahlul-Bayt (as).

Allah (SWT) says: “Verily those for whom goodness has gone forth from Us, they shall be kept away from it”. (21:101) It is narrated that when this verse was revealed, the Holy Prophet (saww) said, “O ‘Ali! You and your followers (Shia’) will remain under the protection of Allah (SWT) on the Day of QIYAMAH”. (Manazil al-Aakhirah) This by itself shows, the word HUSNA in this verse is in reference to the love of Imam ‘Ali (as) and his progeny. However, we must also remember that love here does NOT only mean verbal expression, one must strive to follow the teachings of Ahlul-Bayt (as) and emulate them in this life.

The thing that will ease our fright on the Day of QIYAMAH is our RAHMAH ‘Compassion’, which we show towards the weak people in this life.

The Holy Prophet (saww) has said,

“On the door of the second heaven I saw the following written: There is no god but Allah, Muhammad (saww) is His Apostle, and ‘Ali (as) is His Wali. Verily, everything has its dress, and the dress of the Holy Prophet (saww) will be the following four qualities: To show affection to an orphan; To show kindness to the widows; To fulfil the wishes of a Mumin, & To take care of the poor and the needy”. (Manazil al-Aakhirah)

OTHER THINGS:

Among the other things that will be helpful on that day are recitations of certain Surahs from the Holy Quran such as: Surah Yusuf; Surah al-Dukhaan; Surah al-Ahqaaf & Surah al-‘Asr. It has also been mentioned when and how to recite these Surahs.
