How will QIYAMAH commence?? After all the Major signs have appeared, the NAFAKHUS-SOOR will take place, which means, ‘The Blowing of the Trumpet’. This has also been mentioned in the Holy Quran. In atleast 10 verses the word SOOR meaning ‘The Trumpet’ has been used; in some verses the word SAIHA meaning ‘The cry’ has been used; And in some the word ZAJRAH meaning ‘The Shout’ has been used. According to Mufassireen, they all mean one and the same thing with minor differences. “And the Trumpet will be blown, then whosoever is in the heavens and in the earth shall swoon away except whomever Allah wishes. Then it will be blown a second time, behold, they will rise up, looking on!”. (39:68)
THE BLOWING OF THE FIRST TRUMPET
It is narrated that when Allah (SWT) will intend to bring forth QIYAMAH, He (SWT) will order one of His Angels –Israfeel – to blow the SOOR i.e. ‘The Trumpet’. This Trumpet will be large and illuminated; it will have one mouthpiece and two tubes: One pointing towards the earth and the other towards the sky. Israfeel will come to Baytul-Muqaddas in Jerusalem and will blow the Trumpet while facing towards Quibla. When the voice will come out from the tube facing earth, all living beings on it shall die. And when the voice will come out from the tube facing the sky, all living beings in it shall also die. Then Allah (SWT) will also cause Israfeel to die. Everything will remain destroyed for sometime. Thereafter, it will rain for 40 days and all the physical matter will gather together and collect. The first one to come to life will be Israfeel. Allah (SWT) will command him to blow the Trumpet again and all the dead will rise. (Manazil al-Aakhirah)
Some Mufassireen are of the opinion that the Trumpet will be blown four times:
(a) The first time it will be blown, the great earthquake mentioned in the opening of Suratul-Hajj will take place. People will lose their senses and appear drunk on account of their fear.
(b) The second time it will be blown, every living being will die and destruction of earth will follow.
(c) The third time it will be blown, the second earthquake will occur and the dead will come to life.
(d) And the fourth time it will be blown, people will be presented before their Lord to give account of their deeds.
