EVENTS
AM
Youth plans on hosting a wide variety of different events, and although
the organization has only just started, we already have many events
planned and many ideas too. We plan on holding many different events
from physical, to educational, to spiritual. We aim to guide and
shape the youth of our community because they are our future leaders.
We hope that youths will try and get involved in the organisation
as much as possible because it cannot keep running without you!!!

The
NEW "Kerbala's Call" Publication
AM
Youth have just released a great new magazine on Ashura
& Kerbala.It is truly fantastic, filled with fantastic,
deep, thought-provoking articles, inspirational, interesting
stories and history. Here is a little taster:
“I
feel very close to my Imams in Moharram”, said one
of my students. How true! These great nights, for some,
have a tremendous impact on their lives, while are nothing
but rituals for others. Well, didn’t Imam Hussein
(a.s) fight for a revolution; a change in people’s
lives; a change of bad habits, wrong practices and false
notions?
Hence,
this book is just a humble presentation of some articles,
extracts and thoughts that may touch your heart and help
you absorb Kerbala’s Call on the day of Ashura.
It
is a small effort that I hope All-h will accept, and in
the name of Aba Abdillah, fill my heart and yours with the
love of Ahlul Bayt, which is the key to the door of eternal
reward.

The
NEW Thrusday Tafsir Session
FANTASTIC
NEWS!!! AM Youth have just launched a great new event. Every
Thursday, AM Youth will be holding a program open to the entire
jamaat.
I
am sure we all miss Mahe Ramadhan. The closeness to Allah,
the reular visits to the mosque and the great discussions
too. Well, this event aims to increase the regularity of mosque,
and also bring back some of the habits we strated in Mahe
Ramadhan. For example, Dua Kumayl every thursday & regular
Qur'an Khanee.
These
aren't the only features of this great new program though.
We shall also be holding tafsir discussions and reciting Ziyarat-e-Ashura.
So
don't miss out on the tremendous benefits of reciting Ziyarat-e-Ashura,
the closeness to Allah you gain from Dua Kumayl and the inspiration
you get from Tafsir.

This
Ramadhan - Lectures
This
mahe Ramadhan we gave the youth the oppurtunity to take learning
into your own hands. We invited all youth above the age of
15 to give us a short lecture on any Islamic topic they wish.
Mashallah,
the uptake was good, and not only dis we benefit from their
research a lot, but they benefitted too from it as this may
have motivated them to do that extra bit of research. The
aim was that not only would they increase their knowledge
but also improve their public speaking skills eloquence and
confidence. Mashallah, I feel this aim was achieved.

AL
I'TIKAF
"They
used to sleep but little in the night. And in the morning
they asked Forgiveness"
In
Ramadhan, AM Youth hosted the first ever Al I'tikaf program
at Al-Mahdi centre. It was a fantastic event and the atmosphere
was amazing. I'tikaf was the sunnah of the prophet, and he
used to spend the last 10 nights of 'tikaf. He gave it great
importance, which is why it is essential that we contine his
sunnah.
I'tikaf
is a spiritual retreat in the mosque, usually performed during
the last ten days of Ramadan. A person "making i'tikaf"
spends the 3+ nights in the mosque, devoting his or her time
to worship and reading the Qur'an.Though our I'tikaf was not
in a masjid, and not 3 nights long, it still achieved a similar
aim, and we all became closer to our lord, with only Him and
our reflection for company.
"It
is time for us now to spread open the wings of our soulsand
fly towards our lord. Let us prepare ourselves to go to Allah
(swt)'s house, and hope to retun with an invaluable gift from
him."
Overall
it was a fantastic event, and all participants said they would
love to make this a regular event. It was a unique oppurtunity
and I am sure we will be holding many more similar events.

Pic
'n' Mix:
AM Youth opened a tuck shop for a short while. This tuck shop
called Pic N' Mix is quite different then any other tuck shop
: At our Al Mahdi centre, we're not selling crisps or drinks,
but selling specially selected Quranic verses, Ahadith, Fiqh
Rules, moral stories, general knowledge quizz questions, bookmarks
and books. Its good to take home a spiritual souvenir at home,
to take a step further towards becoming more perfect and more
clever, and attaining All-h's pleasure. This is what Pic n'
Mix offers !

A seminar with Sheikh Shomali - 6th April 2007:
On
the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W.W) and Imam Ja'far
Sadiq (A.S), AM Youth organised a seminar with Sheikh Shomali at
Al Mahdi Center on the topic "My Prophet: The Best of Creation
yet the most humble".

Qur'an
Competition - 17th January 2007
This
year, On Eid Mubahila, our opening religious event took place,
and this was the Qur'an tournament. The event required youth
to work in teams to learn and answer questions about Qur'an.
The aim of the competition was to teach youth how to use the
most thorough guide for all mankind which is the holy Qur'an,
and all committee members agreed that a lot of time and effort
went into this competition from the youth into preparation
etc, and it was very well done overall...(Read

Paintballing - 7th January 2007
On
7th January, all youth between the ages of 10 and 50 were
invited to take part in Paintballing, and this event was truly
an event that will be remembered as the opening event of AM
