In March 2007, the Jamaat members unanimously approved the acquisition of a five acre site in Fareham for £750,000. Alhamdulillah, with duas from Mu'mineen and by the grace of the Almighty (SWT), we obtained detailed planning permission to construct a multi-purpose Islamic centre in May 2008. This was obtained despite all the odds through the positive support we received from the local community including the Hampshire Constabulary, the Parish Council, Portsmouth Cathedral and local schools.
The total cost of the project including the land is expected to be circa £1.6 million. The centre has been flexibly designed to include the following:
- Built-in flexibility for eight madressa rooms,
- Separate ghusl khana and wudhu facilities
- Kitchen
- Library and office facilities
- Adequate car parking facilities for attendees of the centre
- Youth bonding and camping facilities
The footprint of the new centre is approx 540 square metres with plenty of room for expansion should the need arise in future years.
Alhamdulillah with the size of the plot acquired, this centre will serve Mu'mineen in the Wessex area for many generations to come Insha'Allah. |
