The present centre was opened by Marhum Asgharali M M Jaffer in 1993. It is a converted bungalow with two small halls, a conservatory and a handful of small rooms. It was designed to accommodate circa 120 members but the current attendance is more than double that figure.

Alhamdulillah, the community has grown exponentially over the last 17 years. The Universities of Portsmouth and Southampton continue to attract students from around the world, as does the friendly and welcoming community of Wessex Jamaat. These students are beginning to settle here.

The existing centre has served its members well but is no longer adequate for holding madressa classes, majaalis and inter-faith events.
